Ordered a new grill for my truck with a winch, but I wanted two bars installed on the front of the grill to fill in the large gap there. Owner Randy LeCaire said his people could do that, no problem. He talked in great detail about how it would be done. I then talked to the man who was going to install them, and he had a completely different plan that involved drilling holes from the top and using spray paint to cover the install. When I went back in and told Randy this, he said, "That's not how we do it. They do what I tell them to do." Randy said they would install the two custom metal pieces using black plates so that spray painting wouldn't be required, adding that it creates a spot that will easily rust. He also said that they would drill from the bottom so that water won't come in from the top. I had a 1 p.m. appointment but when I arrived, their shop was full. They said it would take 2 hours. Twice I asked Randy how they were doing, that I had other things to do in town, and each time he said, "They're almost done with it. Just 15 minutes." At 4:45 p.m., they still weren't finished, so I went out to the shop to see what the problem was. I suspect they didn't start until 3. Parts of my truck were still on the ground, so they were not "almost done." Additionally, when I got a look at this "custom" job they did installing two metal bars, I was horrified. Scratches all over the grill, holes drilled from the top, and black spray paint all over it, about 6" worth. They did not use the spray-painted plates that Randy talked about, and it was Randy himself who told me that you don't want to paint it that way, because the paint peels off, leaving you suceptible to rust. And, when they drilled from the top, they only had one plastic grommet, and so the other was covered up with black tape. Seriously, a 13-year-old could have done a better, more detailed job. In his spare time. Sadly, I had already paid him, and the grill was already on my truck, so there was little to do except try to get him to install an undamaged grill on my pickup at a later date. To make matters worse, the person who installed the winch then got in my truck to pull it out--without using a plastic seat cover. My new $350 seat covers were covered with dirt and grime from the shop floor. You seriously don't have seat protectors? What kind of business is this? I called today--three weeks later, when he said he would call me two weeks ago--and asked when I should bring the truck in for the new grill. He refused that solution, saying, "You expect me to eat that cost?" It was his employee who damaged the grill, so I don't know why he thinks I should pay for it. I told him that I had already paid $1,600 for the grill and winch and I wasn't going to pay any more. He kept saying, "This is what you asked for." I said, "No Randy, I did NOT ask for your employee to damage my grill while installing two metal rods." He refused to install a new, undamaged grill on my pickup, saying instead that I had to come in and "talk to me face to face." He clearly wants me to spend more money, which I am not willing to do, and I told him so. I think $1,600 for a new grill and winch is already a lot of money. He says nothing is wrong with the grill. While I was on the phone with him trying to work it out, and while he had customers at the counter, he started banging the receiver down on the counter over and over again. He's essentially a child trapped in a grown man's body. Do NOT expect professionalism or integrity here. He does not know what those things are. PS: He's always complaining about his employees and customers at this Colville store, threatening to shut it down. Please do.
