We have always had are Snowmobiles and Water Craft serviced at Desplaines. They do good work and we never have to wait long. Once and while
we buy some parts, takes a bit sometimes, but we
get the right parts. The prices are in line with
most Factory Shops. The only other shop that does better work is Arlington Motorsports (they only do Motorcycles) I have my Harley serviced there.

s many other reviewers have stated, stay away from Des Plaines Yamaha. These guys are bad news. I bought a new \'09 Yamaha V-Star 1300 from them, nice enough bike, but the way it went down was very under-handed. The bike had a sign with a price of $7999 on it when I walked into the showroom. It\'s pearl white and had an engine guard, floor boards, and a passenger back rest already on it. I asked about financing and trading in my \'03 Harley Sportster 883. They gave me $2500 for my Harley and kept mentioning the 1.9% financing that was displayed on signs around the showroom especially after I mentioned my bank would give me 4.6% for 60 months. Well, after putting a $100 deposit down and coming back a few days later to close the deal, the slime began to flow. I put down 10% of the price in cash. As I was trying to look at the paperwork they kept putting in front of me the guy just kept telling me what it was and went on to the next form. While this was going on I was told that they would have to charge me for extras on the bike (engine guard, floor boards and passengers back rest), it came to $850.00 They did point out that my payment would be under $150.00 per month. After I got home and looked at the paperwork carefully, I found out why, the financing was 8.5% for EIGHT YEARS! The only reason I did not take the bike back and call the whole deal off within the legal three day grace period is I knew my bank would give me a better financing deal (which they did), and the V-Star is a nice bike. They tried to get me to come back with a 15% discount card for additional parts I wanted to have added, but after this experience they will never see me again. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE for a bike purchase or parts, there are many much-better places that would be happy to treat paying customers better. These guys are the type of people that give car salesmen the stereo-typical bad reputation that people always talk about.

The owner Reid is a con artist and thief!!! He baits you in with promises of low price parts and service. Dont believe him. The bill will be way over the price quoted. If you question the bill he will act as if he is doing you a favor for overcharging you and treat you as if you are stupid. His brother Mitch(owner of arlington motorsports)cant stand him. Reid is a pig. The glory days of Des Plaines Yamaha Suzuki left with Peck.

I should have known but i was in a jam and wanted to play. !st i have a older Phazer. I ordered the track clips and was going to order the tool for another $100.00 Reed said he would put the clips on if i purchased them from him and tdidnt buy the tool and paid his guys to do it for the same 100.00. Ok fine whatever the clips were 3 bucks each and I could have got them for .99 elseware. SI i pick up the sled and he has a bill for over 600 bucks. I said wait thats not we agreed to. 300 bucks later and lesson learned. I go to purchase a rear track suspension spring this year they wanted 70 bucks and a week to order. These springs fit tons of sleds Bravo, Phazer, Exciter and more for years and years. I make one call to a place off 120 and rand and part was in by 9 am for 15 bucks. Des plaines Yamaha is a rip off

BOUGHT A USED BIKE, RODE IT IN DROPPED IT OFF FOR THEM TO CHECK OUT THE BIKE AND CHANGE TO FLUIDS. THEY CALLED ME BACK AFTER A FEW DAYS TO SAY THAT TH BIKE WAS OK BUT RAN A BIT ROUGHT AND PROBABLY NEEDED THE CARBURATOR CLEANED. AFTER ANOTHER COUPLE OF DAYS THEY CALLED TO SAY MY CARB SHOULD JUST BE BE REBUILT. IT WAS A 1984 YAMAHA VIRAGO XV1000 AND IT TOOK A WHILE TO GET THE PARTS. I DON'T BLAME THEM FOR THE TIME IT TOOK BUT AFTER A TOTAL OF 2 WEEKS AND OVER $500 I WENT TO START THE BIKE AND IT WOULDN'T START, NOTHING!!!!! AND SINCE IT WAS THE DAY BEFORE LABOR DAY WEEKEND THERE WAS NOBODY THERE WHO COULD DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I WAS JUST OUT OF LUCK. AFTER A BIT OF ARGUING WITH THE SERVICE PEOPLE AND THE OWNER CHECKING THE BIKE I WAS TOLD THEY WOULD GET TO IT ON THE TUESDAY AFTER LABOR DAY WEEKEND. WELL, AS I WRITE THIS IT IS 9PM CDT AND HAVE NOT HEARD YET FROM DES PLAINES YAMAHA. I DO NOT KNOW WHAT IS NOW WRONG WITH MY BIKE AND DO NOT KNOW WHAT THEY WILL DO ABOUT IT. I WILL RESPOND AGAIN AFTER THIS SITUATION IS RESOLVED TO LET THE WORLD KNOW HOW DES PLAINES YAMAHA HANDLED THIS PROBLEM.

After purchasing a used Yamaha Riva from a private party, I made several trips up to Des Plaines Yamaha for parts and accessories, and just last month for some servicing.
Parking on the one side of the building, you have to walk through the showroom to get to the parts department. Salesmen were always in the showroom, friendly, offered to show me anything I wanted, 'and with no pressure', I just mentioned to them that I was headed to the parts department, and that was it. The showroom was well stocked and clean, as well as having a large selection of everything they offered for sale on on their lot. As such, I was impressed with their inventory, and in fact was the first place I had seen around here with the new Can Am 3-Wheel motorcycle, both in the showroom and more out on the lot.
Recently took my Yamaha in for service, mainly a set of tires, and inquired about some tune up or maintainence package they might have offered. They worked me out a good deal on the tires and a full 'going over' of the scooter, including oil change, spark plug, air filter, and carb check.
Was satisfied with the price they quoted me, didn't call me with any 'extras' they felt the scooter needed, which they could have done easily, as I didn't know much about this scooter as it is was the first I owned.
I'm safety conscience, and if they would have called and told me it needed 'this or that', I probably would have told them to get it done.
Can't comment too much about the salesmen as I never really any dealings with them. I did talk to one when I had seen the Can Am in the showroom, and again, friendly, very informative, no pressure. Also can't comment on pricing or financing as I never made a major purchase through them.
The service personal were also friendly, knowledgable, and helpful, taking special orders for parts they didn't have in stock, and informing me exactly when I could expect my parts.
I had asked them about other items, I didn't know about, even items hanging on racks for sale, not trying to sell me anything I didn't need, but actually telling me that I really didn't need such stuff for my scooter.
Felt they were honest and upfront with me, which is important with me. Don't like someone trying to sell me something that I don't really need because I didn't know any better, and they didn't.
Overall, if at some point if I get into a position to make a major purchase, they would be the first place I would go to. Naturally I would check out other places, but would go to them first. Then back to them if someone offered something at a lower price to see if they would match it or offer me a better deal.
I might be a bit bias as they are close to me, and easy for me to get to when I need to, but I never experienced anything but good service and friendly people there.
In fact I had hauled my Yamaha scooter up there for my recent service with a friend loaded in the back of his pick-up truck, (not wanting to drive it there with dry rotted tires). Then went to pick it up myself with my van, that had a 500 pound rated mobility scooter platform carrier mounted on my trailer hitch. One of their service people actually came out and helped me get it loaded on the carrier, actually doing more of the work then me.
Really appreciated that... Thanks!

They made me put a 400$ deposit down on my bike to get financed. Got financed with a outrageous % rate, so went back in to get the money, and they wouldnt refund it. When I put it down, they said it was refundable, and now they're trying to pull bullshit
