The 2017 Kawasaki KX450F is a purpose-built motocross machine designed around one thing: going fast when the dirt starts flying. Powered by a 449cc liquid-cooled, DOHC four-stroke single, the KX450F delivers the hard-hitting response, broad powerband, and serious top-end pull expected from Kawasakis flagship 450-class motocrosser. A race-inspired Bridged-Box piston, 43mm Keihin throttle body, digital fuel injection, and integrated exhaust resonator work together to create an engine that responds immediately when you crack the throttle. Kawasaki wrapped that power in a lightweight aluminum perimeter chassis designed to give the rider precise control without making the bike feel bulky underneath them. At just 239.8 pounds curb weight, the KX450F combines serious horsepower with sharp handling and excellent rider mobility. The narrow frame spars, slim bodywork, adjustable ergonomics, and long-travel Showa suspension make this a motorcycle built to charge hard through rough terrain, change direction quickly, and stay composed when the track gets ugly. Five-speed transmission keeps the engine in the heart of its powerband. Chain final drive provides the direct, lightweight setup expected from a competition motocross machine. Integrated exhaust resonator is designed to improve low-rpm throttle response while helping control exhaust sound. Fuel Mapping & Launch Technology Kawasaki DFI couplers allow the rider to select between three preset engine maps for standard, hard, and soft terrain conditions. Launch Control Mode uses race-derived ignition management to help control wheelspin and improve acceleration away from the starting gate. Launch Control functions in first and second gears, where traction is most critical during a race start. Compatible with Kawasakis optional FI Calibration Kit for riders who want more extensive fuel and ignition tuning. Chassis & Handling Lightweight aluminum perimeter frame provides the rigidity and response needed for aggressive motocross riding. Brakes, Wheels & Tires 270mm semi-floating front petal disc with a two-piston caliper delivers strong braking performance. 240mm rear petal disc with a single-piston caliper provides controlled rear braking. 21-inch front and 19-inch rear motocross wheel configuration gives the KX450F its full-size competition stance. 80/100-21 front and 120/80-19 rear tire sizing. Rider Adjustability ERGO-FIT adjustable handlebar mounts provide four handlebar positions across a 35mm adjustment range. Factory-style Renthal handlebar and pad. Two-position adjustable footpegs allow approximately 5mm of positioning adjustment. Adjustable ergonomics allow riders to tailor the cockpit around their height, riding position, and personal preference.
